Due to his high level and sporting performance, the young promise of Club Baloncesto San Pedro, just 16 years old, has changed the South of Spain for the Capital for ten days to train with the teams of the basketball academy created by Pablo Laso, Estudiantes and ZBK.

The Andalusian champion, winner with the Malaga team of the Andalusian A8 Cadet Men’s National Team Championship 2023, Nicolás García Karpenko, has not missed the opportunity and has responded to the call of Club Estudiantes de Baloncesto, Zentro Basket Madrid and Pablo Laso Academy. Karpenko has been demonstrating in Madrid his technical quality in individual training and excellent sporting behavior with the Junior A and Cadet A teams of the basketball academy created by Pablo Laso on March 1 and 2 in the Sports Club pavilion from Camilo José Cela University. With the Cadete A of Estudiantes team on the 4th, 5th and 7th in the pavilion of the Higher Sports Council of Ciudad Universitaria and at the Antonio Magariños Sports Center. And with the ZBK Cadet A team on the 6th, 7th and 8th at the Antonio Díaz Miguel Municipal Sports Center in Tetuán. On the 9th he visited the Estu and Zentro residences.
Although a test is always a complicated context for the player because he is not used to it, Karpenko passed all the tests without getting nervous and trained in the most natural way possible, with a good level of intensity and concentration. Once the tryouts were over, Miguel A. Lago (Sports Director of Pablo Laso Academy), Carlos Arjonilla (Technical Director of the Movistar Estudiantes) and Fernando Reborio (General Manager of Zentro Basket Madrid) agreed to highlight Karpenko as an important value for their projects and for Spanish basketball in the future. In the coming weeks, the basketball player will receive up to three written offers and will decide if he joins one of these three teams in the 2024-2025 season. In any case, for Nicolás García Karpenko it has been an enriching and positive experience for his training to learn and practice the methods of Pablo Laso, Estu and ZBK at the Skyline of Madrid.
Pablo Laso Academy – It is a high-performance educational and sports institution designed for basketball players from around the world who seek to reach their maximum potential. Founded in 2023 by the legendary basketball player and coach Pablo Laso, legend of the ACB benches, historic coach from 2011 to 2022 of Real Madrid and current coach of Bayern Munich of the Basketball Bundesliga. The academy has begun its first season with the aim of training the young promises of world basketball. To achieve this, it has first-class facilities and a coaching staff made up of coaches selected by Laso himself.
Club Estudiantes de Baloncesto – Called Movistar Estudiantes for sponsorship reasons, it is a basketball club founded in 1948, based in Madrid, which has been training young people and nurturing Spanish basketball for 76 years. Several runners-up finishes in the League, Copa del Rey and dozens of qualifications for European competitions guarantee its men’s team, but if something stands out in this institution as a great hallmark, it is its youth team. Estudiantes currently has a thousand male and female players.
