The Spanish golf course architect Ignacio García inspected in a visit to Cuba the areas where the Caribbean island wants to construct a golf course of 18 holes of international level.
Ignacio García, founder of the company of design of golf courses, urban design, architecture and environment, “Ignacio García Golf Arquitectura” (IGGA), travelled from Madrid to Havana to move in car up to the locality of Dolores in Caibarién, to 350 kilometers far from the City of Havana, where he carried out the inspection of the area where the Real-Estate Company Almest promotes the construction of a Championship Golf Course designed by the Spanish architect: 282 hectares of which Ignacio García needs 80 for the golf course. A varied procession of the representatives of the entity of the investment and of the rest of companies involved in the construction of the golf course accompanied the architect in the visit.
The plot is in a beautiful natural space, opposite the bay of Buena Vista, declared by the UNESCO in 2000 Reserve of the Biosphere. Constituted by terrestrial, coastal and marine areas with high ecological sensibility, islets form a new tourist place internationally renowned: Villa Clara Keys: Santa María Key, Las Brujas and Ensenachos. The scenery has elevations and group of real palms of high historical value.
During the walk Ignacio García was interested in the infrastructures, the water available for the irrigation of the installation and the drainage capacity of the soil. Also the architect was interested in the strategic situation of the plot of land that has not visual towards the sea but is next to the Reserve of the Biosphere Buenavista and the Villa Clara Keys.
Though Ignacio García had preferred areas fewer wet and more near to the keys, the emplacement possesses the natural conditions, the favorable landscape and the flora with a lot of beautiful palms for the construction of a championship golf course.
In words of the architect, “the Championship Golf Design will have from 6.400 to 6.800 meters of length, par 72, with two par 3 and two par 5 each nine holes. The fairways will be a natural luxury and very broad, with many water hazards: the lagoons and ecological channels that are good to get the sufficient land to construct the golf course over the wet area and as refuge by the endemic and migratory birds”.
The environmental diagnosis of the areas, the technical prescriptions of design, construction and maintenance, and the protective, corrective and compensatory measurements made by the Spanish study of architecture “Ignacio García Golf Arquitectura” will contribute to the environmental success of the investment. The construction of the golf course will increase the offer and the commitment with the environment of this spectacular destination: Villa Clara Keys.
