Fifty years after its inauguration, the Río Real Golf Hotel Marbella has announced plans to build a luxury beach club for golfers on the shore of the Mediterranean sea.
Los Monteros Golf Course celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015 (1965-2015) with the aim of building a luxury beach club with a swimming pool on the land next to the new Marbella seafront promenade, at Río Real Beach, which has some of the most beautiful dunes of the Costa del Sol.
The opening is planned for Spring 2016, the club announced.
At their 50th anniversary celebration, the management of Río Real announced that «one of the most interesting projects on which we are currently working is a luxury beach club with a swimming pool right on the beach by the green of hole 4».
Back in 2011, the architect and golf course designer, Ignacio García, designed a magnificent Beach Club upon the request of the owner of the Río Real Golf Hotel Marbella, Luis Figueroa, Count of Quintanilla. The designed opened a new horizon for the club with the sparkling blue of the Mediterranean as a backdrop.
Since then, the management of Río Real have not found the time to choose an ideal location for its development; until, now, when they have announced that it is once again one of the club´s most interesting projects.
Ignacio García´s design is a large building with two floors above ground and a basement with direct access to the golf course and the beach, equipped with the latest technology and services to make the establishment one of the best and most modern in Marbella and the Costa del Sol.
It has a designer pool with a bar and salt water available for hotel clients which makes the terrace of the Beach Club into the desk of a luxury ship moored by the sea, a kitchen with large windows which allow diners to view how dishes are prepared, a panoramic lift with views of the sea and the golf course which guarantees access to all users, and natural palm roof and a new access for vehicles with parking.
Another feature of the Beach Club designed by García is its appearance, efficient and respectful of the environment.
The facades have large bay doors with no carpentry and rounded shapes made with architectural concrete, modern, refined and sustainable, moulded by the architect with a plastic and sculptural language, gentle on the eyes and noble to the touch, to withstand the hard sea climate and the high levels of salinity and humidity which come with the location.

The Río Real Golf Hotel is one of the Costa del Sol´s historical golf courses which has holes right by the sea. Located just three kilometres from the centre of Marbella, the golf course descends gently to the beach surrounded by uncontainable nature, full of different species of impressive pine trees, combined with gorgeous palm trees, lush bushes and colourful beds. However, the formidable facilities of the club house, the boutique hotel, the wellness centre, the golf academy and the tennis and padel tennis courts, which are further away from the shore.
The construction of the beach club will allow the Río Real Golf Hotel to open the doors of the club to the sea half a century after it was inaugurated and offer the best possible golfing experience on the Costa del Sol.
